A screenplay and fiction writer, I’ve written several screenplays including 'TIL WE MEET AGAIN, which received awards for best feature at festivals in 2016, as well as a four-book novel series and two television pilots for which I’m currently seeking representation.

Prior to running a content creation business and writing thought leadership for a national non-profit, I received a BA in Literature from Trinity College, an MA in Literature from The University of Chicago, and an MFA in Screenwriting & Fiction from Fairfield University.

Now, I write full time and serve on a few boards connected to writing and education, including the Westport Writers Workshop, which has supported and connected writers for over 20 years, and is currently focused on providing free writing workshops to underserved populations in their own communities.

NOVELIST & SCREENWRITER

INSATIABLE CURIOSITIES, QUESTIONABLE LIFE CHOICES, GOOD TIMING AND INCREDIBLE PEOPLE.

My writing has been unceasingly inspired by

Over and over, writing has empowered me to ask questions and change my perspective by learning about others. That possibility gives me hope for the future. For me, novels, screenplays, and blogs are a way to discover the world…again, and again, and again.

My writing is not political. If anything, I wish the world would stop being so political. There is so much overlapping good on both sides in this country, but we’ve failed to come together for conversation about it, and in doing so made our differences so loud that the quiet good of our true intentions doesn't stand a chance above the din. I hope to elevate the voice of those good intentions by addressing divergent issues through fictional characters from opposing political viewpoints, to bring into conversation the topics we can’t seem to transgress on our own. The world is complicated. Sometimes working through that complication is easier in fiction than reality.

As part of my search for sanity and inspiration, I work on a blog called Simple Life Big Dreams. I live in Connecticut with my husband Patrick and our two daughters, Eleanor and Ophelia.

My writing is usually inspired by a seed of a story or circumstance I’ve heard somewhere, combined with something else completely unrelated like a place or a character trait that inspires me to take an entirely different tangent. When I was younger, it was in newspapers my parents made me read to keep up on current events, or sparked by people I’d see in line at the grocery store. Since, my writing career has been miraculously fueled by insatiable curiosities, questionable life choices, good timing, and incredible people. I follow many writers and thinkers including James Clear, Blake Snyder, Kimberly Snyder and Judd Apatow--but it was Paul Auster’s take on writing and authorhood that completely changed the course of my writing ten years ago... I hope he’s still writing, wherever he is.
